Although we have works by around 70 female artists in our collection, the vast majority are on paper - watercolours, drawings and prints. To a great extent, this reflects what was seen as suitable for women artists in the past.
As ArtUK overwhelmingly shows oil paintings, for now we can only highlight a small number of women artists represented in our collection, but hope to add to this in future.
