Painter and teacher, born in Bath, Somerset, where she studied at the School of Art. During the 1930s Hulbert was close to the group of artists which included William Coldstream, Victor Pasmore, Claude Rogers and Graham Bell which eventually became the Euston Road School. After the interruption of the war years she travelled in America, Africa and on the continent, while continuing to paint in her London studio. From 1962–72 she taught at Central School of Art and Design. Hulbert took part in numerous exhibitions, including solo shows at Leicester, Redfern and Marjorie Parr Galleries and a retrospective at Whitechapel Art Gallery in 1962. Arts Council, Contemporary Art Society, provincial and foreign galleries hold her work. Died at home in Honiton, Devon.
