A Portland stone group of a huntress on a stallion, with attendants, out hunting with hawks. The horse, circa mid 1830s by ‘Smith’, originally stood alone and was later modified by Terrance Farrell to include the human figures, and was raised upon a substantial pedestal and mound. Smith’s statue of the stallion is in the act of moving forward with its front left leg raised, its head tilted to its right. Its right rear leg is set forward and its tail, which is carved from a separate piece of stone, is swept around to its right flank. The weight of the statue is supported to the centre left front by a naturalistic plinth. Farrell’s additions include a lady riding side saddle, her legs on the left side of the horse, on a richly draped saddle.
