Inscription description
on foot of frame in black lettering: William Staniforth Esqr / Appointed surgeon to the institution at the opening in 1797. Resigned April 16th 1819 / And elected Honorary Surgeon. He died 21st August 1833. Aged 83. A memorial of his long / continued and successful services. / By Order of the Board of Governors.
