A portrait bust of Sir William Fergusson, who was elected Surgeon to the Edinburgh Royal Dispensary in 1831, and appointed Professor of Surgery to Kings College Hospital in 1839. He was appointed Surgeon-in-Ordinary to Prince Albert in 1849, Surgeon-Extraordinary in 1855, and Sergeant-Surgeon to Queen Victoria in 1867. He was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1829, and baronet in 1866.
