Designed to represent journalism, the sculpture was commissioned to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the County Times. It consists of a cast iron noticeboard supported by a sculpture of an upright pen and nib to the west, and a sculpture of a newspaper 'web' to the east. The 'web' holds five cast iron newspapers on either side, each with 'County Times' in raised letters at the top. The sculpture is mounted on an oval cobbled and paved base.
