A square pedestal stands on a base of three steps surmounted by the figure of a male soldier wearing battle dress and a steel helmet, holding binoculars and a revolver. At the base, a woman reaches up, holding a laurel garland. There are four reliefs forming a frieze around the monument showing: marching soldiers (front), naval gunners loading a gun (left), men re-arming and refuelling an aircraft (right), and camels on the march (rear).
