An ornamental fountain standing at the western end of the model village. The monument was commissioned by Lady Waterford in memory of her husband, Henry de la Poer, third Marquis of Waterford (1811–1859) who was killed in a hunting accident. On top of a Gothic column, which rises from a stone basin, stands an angel with down-turned sword and shield. The angel, almost certainly Archangel Michael to whom Ford church is dedicated, faces west towards Ford Castle. The basin is made from locally quarried stone and features cable-moulding around its rim. The column is in polished red Aberdeen granite with a base of light grey Peterhead granite. There is a small bronze panel on the east face of the base with a relief of the Waterford arms and two supporters.
There was an inscription (now lost) from 2 Samuel XVIII, 18 on the north face of the base of the column: 'Now Absalom in his life time had taken and reared up for himself a pillar, which is in the king's dale: for he said, I have no son to keep my name in remembrance: and he called the pillar after his own name: and it is called unto this day, Absalom's place.' Apparently this passage was the subject of Lady Waterford's scripture reading with Lord Waterford on the morning of the day he died. After the column was blown down and shattered in a gale on 5th February 1868, it was promptly restored and a new angel installed.
