Tim Cockburn is an artist and printmaker, currently based in the historic harbour town of Pittenweem, Fife. Born in Sheffield, he studied at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 1978. He lived and worked in Tuscany for a year before travelling to India and Sri Lanka and these travels have strongly influenced his imagery and use of colour since.

Varkala is a coastal town in Kerala, India, known for its beautiful sandy beach. In this screenprint, Cockburn perfectly captures the feel of this exotic paradise in a bright and colourful manner.
