Inscription description
A unique large lead decorative urn, rescued from a pond and converted into a fountain standing on a Yorkshire mill stone. Restored by I. W. Ridgway, The Forge, Aylmerton, who noted that it was documented 1904. It was made up of two parts lead exterior with a cement inside to protect it from the planting. If, as noted on the Cathedral’s notice, this included High Alumina Cement (patented in 1908), this part was either a later addition or a repair. There are unfortunately no photographs of the urn in its collapsed state before restoration.
