Selwyn Jones-Hughes was born in North Wales and studied in Liverpool and at the Royal College of Art. In 1976 Jones-Hughes had a two-person exhibition at Rochdale Art Gallery with his wife Michelle Jones-Hughes from which this painting was purchased. ‘Upright Edges…’ is typical of the abstract landscapes which were the focus of his work at this time.
