The caryatids are set at either end of the first floor and hold torches, with the figure on the right also holding a lyre. The allegorical figure of Harmony is in the centre of the attic storey, and is a free-standing winged female, striding forward with a pair of pipes (aulos) held to her lips. All figures larger than life-size. The building was originally designed as a warehouse for the piano and organ dealer T. A. Ewing. The design originally included the words 'PIANOS' and 'ORGANS' to be inscribed on either side of the Harmony figure and the left-hand caryatid originally held a pipe organ.
