Alexander Rossi was a successful British artist whose paintings often featured children and young adults. Many of models were family members. Here, he depicts a young female wearing a dark red dress holding a lopsided tennis racket. Rossi exhibited an astonishing 66 artworks at the Royal Academy between 1871 and 1903.
