A large group of statues of nude female figures (known locally as 'The Naked Ladies'), some in highly unusual attitudes, which adorn a cascade and pool in the riverside portion of the gardens. Eight Oceanids are depicted with two horses. The sculpture was Imported from Italy by the fraudulent financier, James Whittaker Wright, who took his own life immediately following conviction in 1904. It was then acquired by the last private owner of York House, an Indian grandee called Sir Ratan Tata. Long neglected, the statues were restored in 1989.
