THE END IS WHERE WE START FROM / THIS SCULPTURE BY JILL TWEED / WAS UNVEILED ON 20TH APRIL 1994 BY / COUNTY COUNCILLOR MIKE HANCOCK CBE / LEADER OF HAMPSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL / THE SCULPTURE DEPICTS A CHARGING HORSE / ON A SECTION OF BAILEY BRIDGE AND / SYMBOLISES THE LINKS BETWEEN THE TOWN / OF ALDERSHOT AND THE ROYAL ENGINEERS / AND CAVALRY REGIMENTS. IT IS ON THE SITE / HISTORICALLY RECOGNISED AS THE GATEWAY / BETWEEN THE MILITARY AND CIVILIAN TOWNS OF ALDERSHOT.; plaque: IN THE VICINITY OF THIS SITE WAS / ESTABLISHED IN 1854 THE FIRST / MILITARY CAMP IN ALDERSHOT.
