In 'The Boddin, Angus', Cameron’s adherence to a restraint in form is made clear, with the depiction of the lime kiln standing out in stark contrast to the bleak seascape. This painting does, however, suggest a mild departure in painterly form for Cameron, with brushstrokes added loosely throughout. Despite this, the painting remains a key work in Cameron’s oeuvre, describing perfectly his unique ability as a painter of landscape.
