Impressionist landscape scene of a calm mountain lake, surrounded by steep mountains. There is a rocky outcrop in the immediate foreground, with a bright blue/green sky overhead. The paintwork is comprised of either daubs of paint or short directional lines; in the lake the movement is represented by lines in a repeated pattern of diagonal marks. The essential tone, shape and intensity of colour prevalent in the land are communicated effectively in the painting.
