The sculpture depicts the Saint Guthlac Roles, telling the story of Saint Guthlac which dates back 800 years. It references the rivers Welland and Nene in the etched wave and fish designs, and the sunburst links to the eclipse of 2015.

BOSTON & SOUTH HOLLAND / PUBLIC ART TRAIL / The Arrival by Richard Janes (2015) / Created in partnership with Crowland Parish Council and local residents, after this area was nominated as part of / Transported's On Your Doorstep programme, The piece depicts the St Guthlac Roll's, which tell the story of St Guthlac / and date back over 800 years. / transported is a strategic community-focused programme which aims to get more people in Boston Borough and South Holland / enjoying and participating in arts activities. It is supported through the Creative People and Place Initiative from Arts Council England.
