Right side head and shoulder portrait of an airman. With his head turned to face the viewer, he is seated with outstreched arms resting on his knees. The airman wears a flying jacket, scarf and flying hat with chin strap undone. He is seated against a cloudy backdrop, with a hazy city on the horizon in the distance. The figure is in dark colours in contrast to the cityscape which is dipicted in light blues with an illuminated sky.
