This relief sculpture shows a woman's head. Henri Laurens uses Cubist techniques here – her face is abstracted so that only basic geometric shapes are left. The artist included essential information such as the eye, mouth and hair, so the form is still recognisable as a woman's head, but without any detail. It is not clear what the lines behind the woman's head are, they could be part of the woman's body or another person.
