The carboniferous limestone and rough edges of the seven stones give the appearance of great age whilst sparkling in the sunlight. The runic inscriptions are carved in red. The stones are set about half a mile from each other with the Stone of Destiny at their centre just above the millennium garden on land donated to the village by Michael and Annie Atfield of Aldeby Hall. The other Stones radiate off: the Wherry Stone to the south by the mooring on the Waveney and the remaining five stones set in a semi-circle beginning with the Stone of Wisdom to the east on the Beccles Road, the Stone of Regeneration to its north on the Haddiscoe Road. The Traveller's Stone at Tar Barrel Corner and the Stone of Redemption at Dun Cow Road are to the north-east of the Stone of Destiny - with the Stone of Dawn to the East.
