The obelisk commemorates the Second Boer War. It has linked volutes and bay leaf swags at its base, and stands on a tapered pedestal with a heavily moulded cornice. The whole stands in a moulded stepped base with three plain lower steps. Sculpted tablets depict fame and patriotism and the names of the fallen are listed on a raised-lettered tablet.
