A cenotaph on a two-stepped base, sited in a paved area surrounded on three sides by a raised flower bed supported by a stone wall which incorporates integral stone seating. The front of the cenotaph has a tablet with the dedication. Above the tablet is a low relief carving of an angel flanked by a soldier and sailor, with a carving of the Kent insignia within a laurel wreath. On the top of the cenotaph is an upright metal laurel wreath with poppies and ribbons. The names of soldiers who died in the First World War are on tablets placed on the sides and back of the cenotaph. The names of the Second World War soldiers are on 41 small brass plaques on the slope of the low wall surrounding the cenotaph. The insignia of each of the army, navy and air force is placed before the respective list of names.
The memorial was unveiled on Sunday 11th May 1921.
