The sitter held the Cavendish Chair of Physics at Leeds from 1909 to 1915, was a British physicist, chemist, mathematician and active sportsman who uniquely shared a Nobel Prize with his son, William Lawrence Bragg. They were awarded the 1915 Nobel Prize in Physics 'for their services in the analysis of crystal structure by means of X-rays'. The work was unveiled on 11th December 2015 in the Parkinson Court. The commission of the bust was jointly made with RiAus and University of Adelaide.
