JOHN REITH (1889–1971) / John Reith was the first Director-General of the BBC, a role he held for / eleven years. He created the template for public service broadcasting in the / UK, fighting off political influence and offering the British people programmes / to inform, educate and entertain. This bronze bust is by Kathleen Scott, wife / of Robert Falcon Scott, the famous Antarctic explorer, completed in 1929.
