'The Corsican Brothers' is a novella published in 1844 by the French author Alexandre Dumas (1802–1870). It has frequently been adapted for the stage and made into several films. The protagonist of the story is Fabien dei Franchi, one of a pair of Siamese twins who were separated at birth and raised independently. The man posing for the part is the painter Sir James Jebusa Shannon (1862–1923) who was a good friend of Frank Markham Skipworth and a witness at his wedding to Alice Groom.
