An abstract statue unveiled by the Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire. It depicts three players grappling for the ball during the annual Shrovetide football game. The Shrovetide football game takes place on Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday each year. It is played throughout the Ashbourne streets, alleyways and park, as well as in the River Henmore, between 'goals' three miles apart.
