National Trust, The Lake District
Despite the fact that the National Trust probably owns more houses in the north-west of England than in any other part of the country, these have, with very few exceptions (Derwent Island, Hill Top, Sizergh Castle, Townend), come to the Trust devoid of contents, including the recently opened Allan Bank in Grasmere, where William Wordsworth once lived.
