John Maxwell
1905–1962
Painter, draughtsman and teacher, born and died in Dalbeattie, Kirkcudbrightshire. A superlative draughtsman, Maxwell’s still lifes, landscapes and imaginative compositions have a distinctive colour range and a unique lyrical, fantastic quality.
