MacIvor was born in Bushire, Iran of Irish parents and studied at Alexandra College Dublin and at the Académie Julian, Paris and exhibited from 1908 at the Paris Salons. MacIvor was a painter of portraits, miniatures and landscapes as well as working as an illustrator, illustrating the 'Wonder Books for Children'. She married the artist Frank Proschwitzry Freyburg. This painting is of Saumarez Park, when Marion Saumarez’s family would have been living there. MacIvor was a friend of Marion’s and would have met her while attending the Académie Julian.
