According to Claire Jones' 'Sculpture and Design Reform in France 1848 to 1895: Sculpture and the Decorative Arts' Farnham, 2014, pp.33–34, the bronze model was exhibited in the 1848 Paris Salon and is now at Osborne House (height 89 cm). This silver model was cast in 1849 by Simonet, with Gautier a witness to the casting, and offered as a prize valued at 25,000 francs in the 'Loterie des Artistes'.
