The work features a three-step base with pedestal, surmounted by a sculpted bronze figure of a Royal Scots Fusilier. The figure stands turned to face his left, with a knapsack on his back, holding an upturned rifle in his right hand. A Busby hat lies between his feet. The pedestal has a sculpted bronze plaque with raised regimental insignia of the Royal Scots Fusiliers.
