A cenotaph with the two county (Cumberland and Westmorland) , Carlisle City and Regimental (Royal Regiment of Artillery, Border Regiment and Westmorland and Cumberland Yeomanry) crests at base, and also the devices of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Royal Army Medical Corps. Laurel wreaths and palm branches are carved in relief at the top.
