Now based in Edinburgh, Philip Duthie was born in Aberdeen in 1957 and trained at Gray's School of Art from 1975–1979.

Duthie is an artist whose work traverses the boundaries of landscape painting and abstraction. The luminous quality of the light where the sea meets the land around Scotland's coasts, from the silvery greys of the North Sea to the almost Mediterranean blues and greens of the Western fringes and the Hebridean Islands, is a constant source of inspiration.

His work is featured in many private, public and corporate collections throughout the UK.
