A maquette of Newton seated on geometric blocks and folded forward with a pair of dividers in left hand. The figure is naked but mechanised in appearance with bolts and sections of bronze. The face is modelled after the artist. The work is a maquette to the full-scale bronze sculpture displayed on a high plinth in the piazza outside the British Library. Installed in 1995 and unveiled in 1997, it stands 12 foot tall.
