Like much of his work, this painting mirrors Wyllie’s love of the Scottish countryside, which undoubtedly stemmed from the bank of images he built up when, as a youngster, he travelled with his parents around the country. Argyll and the Western Isles were his favourite destinations, where he was fascinated by the crofts and small farms sprouting from the land. This work depicts a scene near Kilmacolm, a village North of Glasgow, where Wyllie was principle teacher in Art & Design in the late 1960s.
