Monte Leone is a mountain on the border between Switzerland and Italy not far from the Simplon Pass.

Son of Benjamin William Leader, well-known landscape artist, Benjamin Eastlake Leader showed at the Royal Academy with subjects ranging from French Alps to Scotland and North Wales, and also at the Institute of Royal Oil Painters. He was killed on the Somme in 1916 in the First World War.
