This painting entitled 'Mixed Doubles' was created by British artist Jonathan Armigel Wade in a 'curvispective' style, which is a distorted and quirky motif full of movement and energy. Wade’s artwork largely features sporting scenes, coastal and harbour views, and quiet rural settings, often with affectionate humour. Here, he depicts a tennis match in action. All eyes are turned to one of the female players who is wearing a pair of red polka-dotted knickers that are visible under her tennis dress. This distraction has also been spotted by a vicar drinking tea in the foreground.
