The Artist asked staff and visitors to the Hospital to describe milestones on their journey. Stones incorporated into the project were brought by staff to the Infirmary from various locations across Scotland. The Artist wanted to identify something which would mark the Royal Infirmary as a central point in a living web of tracked movements.
Sandblasted into the stone face, words collected from diverse ‘voyages’ to the hospital are poetic memories. Deliberately stripped of particularity, these words and phrases echo quietly the transitory preoccupations that affect us all.
