A life-size standing figure of Matthew Flinders on a low stone plinth. Flinders is dressed in naval uniform, wearing a tricorn hat, holding a telescope in one hand, and with his cat Trim brushing against his leg. There is a plaque showing his route of discovery around Australia, and there are three decorative plaques set into the pavement created by the sculptor and pupils from the Thomas Cowley High School in Donington.
