In 1675 Mary married William Fanshawe (1640/1643–1708), son of John Fanshawe, 2nd of Parsloes, and Dorothea Kingsmill, and they had seven children.
Mary is reputed to have healed sufferers of scrofula, or ‘The Kings Evil’, which is tuberculosis of the neck. Superstition held that only the hands of a Sovereign, or those with Royal blood, could cure the disease as they were successors of Edward the Confessor and held the divine right of Kings.
