The painting is predominantly black with small orange, green and white shapes in the centre. Running along the top edge of the painting there are a series of short dashes painted in both orange and blue.

Bolton studied art at Wolverhampton polytechnic. He was one of the first black students to gain a first-class degree. His work explores black culture and identity.
