Harris Park, Cockermouth. Children placing bunches of daffodils on a fountain with a statue of a young Dorothy Wordsworth on top. Taken on the occasion of the Wordsworth Bicentenary in April 1970. The previous year all the schoolchildren in Cockermouth had planted 27,000 daffodil bulbs on the approaches to, and in, the town. Some of these were picked for a procession from Wordsworth's House to Harris Park to lay them at this fountain. The statue has been moved to opposite Wordsworth's house since.
