In the foreground is muddy land in light browns and creams. On the far side of the muddy land is a low stone wall. Two male figures sit on the wall, at centre. Each wears a cap and an upper garment of black or dark blue. The rightmost figure wears trousers of a similar colour; the leftmost figure wears cream-coloured trousers. In front of them, to left, are two other similarly-dressed men with brown trousers. The rightmost of these men sits on a low object; the leftmost stands. To left of the men stands a woman wearing a long dark dress with a white apron. In her arms is a baby dressed in a white upper garment and red trousers. To left of the group of figures, in far left foreground, stands a brown horse attached to an open-topped cart, its head lowered to the ground.
