Interior of Westminster Abbey. In the centre foreground is an open area with a carpet. The carpet has a design of circles and diagonal lines. Members of the clergy, officials and other men and women stand to either side of the carpeted area. They face the centre and many of them hold books open in front of them. In the immediate foreground, at the centre, stands a man who wears a dark robe with a pattern of leaves and vines. He holds a book open in front of him and stands facing right of image. Behind him is a short bench with two white cloths draped over the back. Further to right stands a white-haired man wearing a dark robe and holding a book in his right hand. His back is towards the viewer and he faces the centre of the image.
