Lady Laura Buchan, née Wilks (1797–1888) is chiefly remembered for the impression she made as a young woman upon Napoleon Bonaparte when her father, Colonel Wilks, was his gaoler on St Helena following the Battle of Waterloo. Napoleon commented on her beauty and elegance and the fact that previous reports did neither justice.

Laura Wilks later married General Sir John Buchan and, as Lady Buchan, was instrumental in the founding of the Buchan School for Girls.
