Joe Calzaghe is shown in his gym in the South Wales valleys, close to his Newbridge home. He is an example of a Welsh mentor for ambitious young people: he combines an impeccable courtesy outside the ring with a devastating aggression when in a contest. He was the most successful Welsh boxer of all time, a showman and professional of the highest calibre. His career spanned from 1993 to 2008; he never lost or drew a fight, despite being knocked down in several of his professional fights. Calzaghe achieved all his ambitions, ending his professional life defeating the American Roy Jones, Junior in the iconic home of boxing, Madison Square Garden, New York. That steely determination is captured by David Griffiths, who managed to show that, although Calzaghe is small, his power is immense.
