The facade of the Old Custom House facing the docks is classical in style with four columns supporting a deep pediment decorated with the Borough of Ipswich's coat of arms. The coat of arms features a rampant lion with the sterns of three galleons at sea set within an elaborate cartouche held by two wyverns.
