The political career of Herbert Morrison (1888–1965) was wide and varied. The positions held include leader of London County Council from 1934, Home Secretary from 1940 to 1945, and Deputy Prime Minister in Attlee’s 1945 Labour Government. Among Morrison’s many achievements on London County Council was the creation of the London Passenger Transport Board.
