A drinking fountain formed of an aedicule on each side. (An aedicule is an opening framed by columns on either side and a pediment above). The pilasters or columns of each face are carved with decorative scrolls, above which is a stone pediment. Rising from the main cap is an ornamental shaft consisting of a square moulded and carved base which rises to an octagonal plan. Above this is a cluster of polished columns with enriched capitals, finished with an ornamental terminal. Immediately under the frieze on the north side is an alabaster portrait medallion of Colonel Lane, with bays of laurel wreathed below it. There are fluted basins on two sides.
